Education:
Completion of secondary school required. Post-secondary education (university degree or college diploma) in business, marketing, or a related field is an asset; an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
Experience:
Minimum 2.5 years of experience in retail or wholesale buying/purchasing required.
Job duties:
Study market reports, trade periodicals, and sales promotion materials; attend trade shows, showrooms, and product design events to identify new African beauty, haircare, and cosmetics merchandise opportunities. Select merchandise that best fits the company's requirements for resale by wholesale. Interview suppliers and negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms, and transportation arrangements. Oversee distribution of merchandise to outlets and maintain adequate stock levels. Monitor inventory turnover and adjust purchasing strategy based on sales trends.
Additional skills/asset requirements:
Knowledge of African beauty, haircare, and cosmetics products and market trends is an asset. Korean language ability is an asset. Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier relationship management skills.
