주간묵상 26-24
<선거 유감>
옛 초등학교 운동회 회상.
학생도 주민도
일손을 멈추고
온 동네가 모여
한마당에서 뛰고 달렸다.
줄다리기, 이어달리기,
목이 터져라 응원하고
안간힘을 쓰는 경기.
황홀한 승자의 기쁨.
그러나 모두의 기쁨은
승자의 기쁨 두 배
스포츠 유감.
격투기.
사력을 다해
주먹으로 치고,
발로 차고,
쓰러뜨리고,
목을 죄고,
팔을 꺾는다.
그래도 규칙이 있고
반칙이 심하면
경고 또는 퇴장
끝나면
승자가 먼저
패자에게 다가가서
악수하고,
포옹하고,
등을 다독거린다.
스포츠정신.
6⋅3 지방선거.
지역운동회, 격투기,
온갖 열풍 속에
희비가 엇갈리고,
어떤 곳은
단 1표 차이로 당락이-
재검표까지 했지만
결국 결과를 수용
그러기에 선거는
아름다운 스포츠
진행의 아쉬움은 있었지만-
경기가 끝난 뒤
선수들이 서로를 안아주듯,
후보도, 정당도, 국민도,
“수고했습니다.”
“감사합니다.”
“축하합니다.”
국민의 기쁨은
당선자의 두 배
국가의 축제되길-
선거는 아름다운 경기
국가를 살리는 격투기.
그 열정으로
나라를 세우고,
더 좋은 대한민국,
세계에 빛나는 대한민국으로-
정치인들은
유능한 스포츠선수
패어플레이(Fair play) 격투기선수
끝이 아름다운 선수.
국민을 행복하게 하는 선수-
“사람이 제비는 뽑으나 일을 작정하기는 여호와께 있느니라” (잠 16:33)
“제비 뽑는 것은 다툼을 그치게 하여 강한 자 사이에 해결하게 하느니라”(잠 18:18)
하나님의 주권 앞에 이젠
밀담도 설교도 조금 달라졌으면 좋겠다.

<Reflections on the Election>
Memories of old elementary school sports days.
Students and villagers alike
laid down their work,
the whole town gathering together
to run and cheer in one great field.
Tug-of-war, relay races,
voices shouting themselves hoarse,
every contest fought with all one’s strength.
The ecstasy of the victor.
Yet the joy of all
was twice the joy of the winner.
Reflections on sports.
Combat sports.
With all their might
they punch,
they kick,
they throw one another down,
they choke,
they twist arms—
yet there are rules,
and when fouls grow severe,
there is warning or expulsion.
When it is over,
the winner first
walks toward the defeated,
offering a handshake,
an embrace,
a pat on the back.
The spirit of sportsmanship.
The June 3 local elections.
Like a village festival, like a contest of fighters,
amid every whirlwind of passion,
joy and sorrow crossed paths.
In some places,
victory and defeat
were decided by a single vote.
Even recounts were held,
yet in the end
the result was accepted.
That is why elections
are a beautiful sport—
though there were regrets in the process.
After the match is over,
just as athletes embrace one another,
may candidates, parties, and citizens alike say:
“You worked hard.”
“Thank you.”
“Congratulations.”
The people’s joy
should be twice that of the elected,
becoming a festival for the nation.
An election is a beautiful contest,
a struggle that saves a nation.
With such passion,
may we build the country,
a better Republic of Korea,
a Korea shining before the world.
Politicians should be
capable athletes,
fair-play fighters,
people whose ending is beautiful,
people who bring happiness to the citizens.
“Man casts the lot, but its every decision is from the Lord.” (Proverbs 16:33)
“Casting the lot settles disputes and keeps strong opponents apart.”(Proverbs 18:18)
Before the sovereignty of God,
perhaps now
both private conversations and public sermons ought to become a little different.
