정치적&경제적으로 부상하는 중국의 영향인지
우리 시험에도 중국얘기가 많이 다뤄지는데요...
그러다보니 사상 얘기 당연 빠질 수 없겠죠.
그 사상의 정점에 있는 공자!
그리고 논어!!입니다!!
아래에 인용한 자료는
동양의 고전을 영어로 번역한 논어입니다.
번역을 하다보면 아무래도
번역가의 생각의 깊이 또는 얕음이 드러나기 때문에
잘못된 오역도 많고
자기식으로 해석한 부분도 많습니다만..
대부분 쉬운 어휘와 표현으로 번역해
동서양의 다른 관점을 흥미롭게 비교하며 영어독해를 해보실 수 있으실 것 같아 올립니다^^
개인적으로....
원론적인 공자의 사상과 그의 인간됨은 존중하나....
그의 사상에서 시작된 자가당착식의 왜곡과 주관적인 판단, 그에 대한 정치적 사회적인 편협은 싫어하죠...ㅎㅎ
문득... 악기연주에 능하다는 그의 연주를 보고 싶네요....헹...ㅎㅎ

◎ 學而第一 (Book One: To Learn)
1. 子曰學而時習之不亦說乎有朋自遠方來不亦樂乎人不知而不慍不亦君子乎
The Master said: "Isn't it a pleasure to learn and at due times to repeat what one has learned? And isn't it delightful to have friends of congenial minds coming from afar" Isn't he a true gentleman who is never vexed at others' failure to appreciate him?"
2. 有子曰其爲人也孝弟而好犯上者鮮矣不好犯上而好作亂者未之有也君子務本本 立而道生孝弟也者其爲仁之本與
Master Yu said, "Those who have filial piety and brotherly love seldom offend against their superiors. And there have been no one who, not liking to offend against their superiors, stir up confusion. The true gentleman exerts himself to attend to what is radical. After that is firmly set up, the Way grows up. Filial piety and brotherly love is the trunk of the virtue.
3. 子曰巧言令色鮮矣仁
The Master said: "A man with plausible speech and ingratiating manners is seldom good."
4. 曾子曰吾日三省吾身爲人謀而不忠乎與朋友交而不信乎傳不習乎
Master Zeung said: "Every day I examine myself on three points - Have I done my utmost in working for others? Have I been truthful in my intercourse with my friends? Have I practiced the instructions of my teacher?"
5. 子曰道千乘之國敬事而信節用而愛人使民以時
The Master said: "To rule a country of a thousand chariots, the ruler must attend strictly to his business, keep his promises, be frugal with expenditure, show his affections toward the people, and allow them to do their works at a proper times of year.
6. 子曰弟子入則孝出則弟謹而信汎愛衆而親仁行有餘力則以學文
The Master said: "A young man's duty is to be obedient to his parents at home and to be respectful to his elders, to be cautious in behavior and sincere in his words, to have kindly feelings toward every one, but keep company with the good. If, after performing these things, he has any surplus energy, and then he may pursue his learning.
7. 子夏曰賢賢易色事父母能竭其力事君能致其身與朋友交言而有信雖曰未學吾必 謂之學矣
Zha-ha said: "If a man withdraws his mind from the love of carnal pleasures and applies that mind to the love of the wise men, puts his whole strength in serving his parents, devotes his life in serving his ruler, and his words are sincere in associating with his friends, I will surely, though others may say that he still lacks education, call him an educated man.
8. 子曰君子不重則不威學則不固主忠信無友不如己者過則勿憚改
The Master said: "A true gentleman who lacks gravity has no authority and his learning will not be solid. Hold faithfulness and sincerity as first principles. Have no friends not equal to yourself. When you have faults, do not fear to admit and correct them.
9. 曾子曰愼終追遠民德歸厚矣
Master Zeung said: "Let the people extend every courtesy in funeral rites새 their parents and perform their religious services with all their hearts, and they will have cordial virtue.
10.子禽問於子貢曰夫子至於是邦也必聞其政求之與抑與之與子貢曰夫子溫良恭 儉讓以得之夫子之求之也其諸異乎人之求之與
Zhageum asked Zhagong saying: "When our Master arrives in this country, he won't fail to find out about its policy? Does he do this by asking, or do people tell him of their own accord? Zhagong said, "My master gets its policy by being benign, frank, courteous , temperate, and respectful. This is the Master's mode of getting its policy - it is very different from that of other men.
