What are solids?
A solid is one kind of matter.
A solid has mass and takes up space.
Only a solid has a shape of its own.
That means a solid keeps its shape even when you move it.
고체란 무엇일까요?
고체는 물질의 한 종류예요.
고체는 무게가 있고 공간을 차지해요.
고체만이 자신만의 모양을 가지고 있답니다.
즉, 고체는 자리를 옮겨도 모양이 변하지 않고 그대로 유지돼요.

How can you measure solids?
You can use a ruler to measure a solid.
A ruler measures how long, how tall, or how big around something is.
고체는 어떻게 잴 수 있을까요?
자를 사용해서 고체를 잴 수 있어요.
자는 물체의 길이나 높이, 또는 둘레가 얼마나 큰지 재어 줘요.
You can use a balance to measure the mass of a solid.
The pan with more mass goes down.
저울을 사용해서 고체의 무게를 잴 수 있어요. 더 무거운 쪽의 접시가 아래로 내려가요.
