모든 육상 동물 중 가장 키가 큰 기린은 초식 동물입니다. 야생에서 최대 25년까지 살 수 있으며 현재 IUCN 적색 목록에서 취약한 종으로 분류되어 있습니다. 약 53cm인 혀를 사용하여 가장 높은 나무의 나뭇잎도 쉽게 뽑아서 먹을 수 있습니다.

The giraffe (Giraffa) is an African artiodactyl mammal, the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant. It is traditionally considered to be one species, Giraffa camelopardalis, with nine subspecies. However, the existence of up to eight extant giraffe species has been described, based upon research into the mitochondrial and nuclear DNA, as well as morphological measurements of Giraffa.
