Let the Firefighters' Sacrifices Not be in Vain

Six firefighters died at down, while _______[try] to save other people. Our whole society mourns the sacrifice of the firefighters who chose the lives of citizens over[뜻?] their own. While we all pay tri______ to their great sense of responsibility, many people also voice their regrets about the ig_________ of traffic re_________s such as illegal parking on the roads. Roads for the fire engines have long turned into parking lots. Even now, firefighters fight c_____ in back alleys, not f_______.

[Considering / Considered] the accidents happening in our country, we cannot but[뜻?] think of the saying, "Lock the stable after the horse is gone." No mater [what / how] it may be, it is always afterwards [that / what] the government and the media get all worked up[뜻?]. The same goes for[뜻?] a series of disasters such as the collapse of Sampung Department Store and Seongsu Bridge, and the fire at Sealand. Why did they not fix the problems if they knew what were the problems[X-1개]?

[Using / Used] this incident as a turning point, the government must take action to solve the problem of illegal parking in back alleys of residential areas. [If / Unless] we take strong measures against illegal parking, as they [are / do] in Japan and in the U.S.A., the war of parking on the streets will remain a vicious cycle and trouble for all of us. No one knows who will be the next victim.

The only hope [lies / laid] in a change of _________[aware]. We must realize that the selfishness of individuals can take the lives and means[뜻?] of other people around us. We still remember [to lose / losing] the lives of twenty-three young children in the fire at Sealand and the lives of fifty-five teenagers in the fire at a bar in Incheon. Both accidents occurred because people were ignoring the basics of safety. [However / Therefore], not much [has / have] changed since these incidents occurred. Now is the time that we must stick to the basics. Let us build up a society [which / in which] the basics are respected. Even though we've lost the horse, let us at least once and for all[뜻?] try to lock the stable.
