UFV (University of Fraser Valley, 프레져 벨리 대학교)의 영어 연수 프로그램에 대해서 알아볼까 합니다. UFV 대학교는 1974년에 설립된 공립대학교로, 메인 캠퍼스는 아보츠포드(애보츠포드)에 있고, 칠리왁, 미션, 호프등 총 4개의 캠퍼스를 가지고 있습니다. Fraser Valley란 명칭이 이 4지역을 통칭하는 지역명이기기도 하구요.

프로그램 Outline.

UFV의 ESL 프로그램은 총 4개의 레벨로 나누어져 있습니다. 그리고 2개의 레벨로 나누어진 Academmic ESL 프로그램으로해서 크게는 두가지로 나누어져 있다고 볼 수 있습니다. 아카데믹 ESL 프로그램은 University Foundation Program과 ESL Academic Bridge 프로그램 두개로 다시 나누어지게 됩니다.

주의할점은 UFV는 비기너 클래스는 제공하지 않는 다는 점입니다. UFV의 ESL은 Pre-intermediate부터 시작한다는점 잊지 마세요. 그리고 Acedemic ESL 프로그램의 경우는 ESL의 4개의 레벨을 다 마춘 후 (Advanced 1) 후에 수강이 가능합니다.

ESL 프로그램

UVF의 ESL 프로그램은 Core Course와 Elective Course의 두개로 구성이 되어 있습니다. Core 프로그램으로는 Writing & Grammar, Reading & Vocabulary , Listening & Speaking의 3가지로 나누어지게 되며,  elective 프로그램은 영어 레벨에 맞도록 선택할수 있는 프로그램들을 제공합니다.

ESL의 각 레벨은 총 4개월의 Semester 로 구성이 되어있으며, 이 semester는 7주의 두개의 세션으로 나누어져 구성되어 있습니다. 학생 능력에 따라서 두개의 레벨을 한 semester에서 마칠수도 있고, 각 레벨을 각 7주의 session에서도 마칠 수도 있습니다.

Dates:

UFV (Academic and University Foundation) has three 4-month semesters per year and two 2-month semesters in summer.

UFV ESL (Level 30/Pre-Intermediate to Level 60/Advanced I) day classes are delivered in 7-week sessions.
