Fort St. John
Fort St. John은 BC주를 기준으로 동북쪽에 있는 작은 소도시로 해안성기후에 의한 영향으로 동일 위도상에 있는 지역들에 비해 덜 추운 날씨를 가진 것이 특징입니다. 농업과 석유, 산림업등이 주된 수입원이며, 넓은 지역이긴 하나 인구밀도가 상당히 낮은 지역이기도 합니다. 특히나 다운타운이라기 보다는 commercial area라 불릴만한 작은 도심이 있구요. 다만 적은 인구밀도를 가진 지역임에도 불구하고 박물관, 극장, 시립도서관, 아트겔러리, pub 등 갖출 것은 다 갖춘 도시입니다.
Northern Lights College
다운타운 북쪽 끝부분에 위치한 Northern Lights College는 주변의 여러캠퍼스에 걸쳐 학부과정을 나누어 개설하였습니다. 일반 부설영어과정은 Fort St. John 본 캠퍼스에 있구요. 학교 전체내의 한국학생수는 연평균 10명이 되지 않는 작은 한국인 비율을 가진 것이 연수에 있어서는 특징이자 장점입니다.
부설영어과정
대게 50-60명정도의 정원을 가진 부설영어과정은 4개의 레벨로 구성되어 있으며, 한국인 비율을 따지는 것 자체가 의미없을 만큼 적은 비율을 가집니다. 아카데믹한 과정에 초점을 맞춰 reading, writing, grammar, essay 등이 높은 비중을 갖긴 하지만 회화역시 보충할 수 있다는 점이 다녀오신 회원들로 하여금 장점으로 여겨지게 합니다. 4레벨이 되시면 학부과정에 있어 일부에 한하지만 학점수강도 가능합니다. 레벨별 수업내용은 다음과 같습니다.
1. Beginner

2. High Beginner

3. Intermediate

4. Advanced Intermediate
