상관접속사의 이해(1): not A but B / not only A but (also) B

짝을 이루어 쓰는 등위접속사의 일종인 상관접속사 「not A but B」는 ‘A가 아니라 B’, 「not only A but (also) B」는 ‘A뿐만 아니라 B도’의 의미를 나타낸다.

eg. He came not on Friday but yesterday. 그는 금요일이 아니라 어제 왔다.

     I speak not only English but French. 나는 영어뿐만 아니라 불어도 한다.
