값진 것 (The precious thing)

성공을 하고 교만해진 것보다
실패를 하고 지혜를 얻는 것이
더 값진 것을 얻는 것이다.
More than to be arrogant after success
To gain wisdom after failure
Is to get the more precious.
게으른 자는 노력도 없이 얻기를 바라지만
수행자는 노력은 하지만 결과를 기대하지 않아
값진 것을 얻을 수 있게 된다.
The idle want to obtain without any effort
Even though, the Yogi does not expect the result in requital for much effort,
he obtains the more precious.
헤어지는 슬픔으로 인해 비탄에 빠지는 것보다
만나면 헤어지는 것이라는 지혜를 얻는 것이
더 값진 것을 얻는 것이다.
More than to fall into grief because of a separating sorrow
To gain wisdom that the meeting give rise to farewell
Is to get the more precious.
눈에 보이는 지위나 명예를 얻는 것보다
남을 위해 베풀고 수행하는 것이
더 값진 것을 얻는 것이다.
More than to win the showing position and honor
To bestow a favor on others and to meditate
Is to get the more precious.
계율을 지켜 청정한 것이 값진 것이며
고요함을 얻어 지혜를 얻는 것이 값진 것이며
가장 값진 것은 번뇌를 불태우는 것이다.
The purification with obeying commandments is precious
And to have wisdom with calmness is precious
The most precious is to be extinct passions.
