the most magnificant poem hasn’t been written yet
가장 훌륭한 시는 아직 씌어지지 않았다
the mostbeautiful song hasn’t been sung yet
가장 아름다운 노래는 아직 불려지지 않았다
the most glorious day hasn’t been lived yet
최고의 날들은 아직 살지 않은 날들
the most immence sea hasn’t been pioneered yet
가장 넓은 바다는 아직 항해되지 않았고
the most prolonged travel hasn’t been done yet.
가장 먼 여행은 아직 끝나지 않았다.
the immortal dance hasn’t been performed yet
불멸의 춤은 아직 추어지지 않았으며
the most shine star hasn’t been discovered yet
가장 빛나는 별은 아직 발견되지 않은 별.
when we don’t know any more what we are supposed to do
무엇을 해야 할 지 더 이상 알 수 없을 때
it’s the time whe we can do true something
그 때 비로소 진실로 무엇인가를 할 수 있다
when we don’t know any more where we are supposed to go
어느 길로 가야 할지 더 이상 알 수 없을 때
it’s the start when the true travel has just begun.
그 때가 비로소 진정한 여행의 시작이다.

The loveliest sea
is the sea not yet traveled
가장 아름다운 바다는 아직 건너지 않았다.
The loveliest child
is the child not yet born
가장 아름다운 아이는 아직 태어나지 않았다.
Our loveliest days
are those we have not yet lived through.
우리의 가장 아름다운 날들은 아직 살아보지 못한 날들이다
And the loveliest word I would say to you
그리고 당신에게 해주고 싶은 가장 아름다운 말은
is the word that I have not yet said.
아직 내가 하지 못한 말이다

interview with god.
신과의 인터뷰
I dreamed I had an Interview with God
어느 날 나는 신과 인터뷰하는 꿈을 꾸었다.
God asked
신이 말했다.
"So you would like to interview me?"
"그래, 나를 인터뷰하고 싶다구?"
"If you have the time," I said.
내가 말했다. "네, 시간이 있으시다면"
God smiled.
신은 미소 지으며 말했다.
"My time is eternity...
what questions do you have in mind for me?"
"나의 시간은 영원. 내게는 충분한 시간이 있다.
무슨 질문을 마음속에 품고 있는가?"
"What surprises you most about humankind?"
"인간에게서 가장 놀라운 점이 무엇인가요?"
God answered...
신이 대답했다.
"That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up,
and then long to be children again."
"어린 시절이 지루하다고 서둘러 어른이 되는 것.
그리고는 다시 어린 시절로 되돌아가기를 갈망하는 것"
"That they lose their health to make money...
and then lose their money to restore their health."
"돈을 벌기 위해 건강을 잃어버리는 것
그리고는 건강을 찾기위해 돈을 다 잃는 것"
"That by thinking anxiously about the future,
they forget the present,
such that they live in neither the present nor the future."
"미래를 염려하느라 현재를 놓쳐버리는 것
그리하여 결국 현재에도 미래에도 살지 못하는 것"
"That they live as if they will never die,
and die as though they had never lived."
"결코 죽지않을 것 처럼 사는 것
그리고는 결코 살아본 적이 없는 듯 무의미하게 죽는 것"
God's hand took mine
and we were silent for awhile.
신은 내 손을 잡으셨다.
그렇게 한 동안 말이 없었다.
And then I asked,
내가 다시 여쭈었다.
"As a parent, What are some of life's
lessons you want your children to learn?"
"저희들의 어버이로서 당신의 자녀들에게 줄
교훈은 어떤 것들이 있나요?"
"To learn they cannot make anyone love them.
All they can do is let themselves be loved."
"누군가 억지로 너희를 사랑하게 할 수는 없으니
오직 스스로 사랑 받는 존재가 되는 수 밖엔 없다는
사실을 배워야 하느니라...,
"To learn that is not good to compare themselves to others."
남과 자신을 비교하는 일은 좋지 못하며,
"To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness."
"용서를 실천함으로써 용서하는 법을 배우기를."
"To learn that it only takes a few seconds to
open profound wounds in those they love,
and it can take many years to heal them."
"사랑하는 사람에게 상처를 주는데는
단 몇 초밖에 걸리지 않지만,
그 상처를 치유하는 데는 여러 해가 걸릴 수도 있다는 사실을."
"To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most,
but is one who needs the least."
"가장 많이 가진 자가 부자가 아니라,
더 이상 필요한 것이 없는 사람이 진정한 부자라는 것을."
"To learn that there are people who love them dearly,
but simply do not yet know how to express or
show their feelings."
"사람들은 서로를 극진히 사랑하면서도,
단지, 아직도 그 사랑을 표현하는 방법을
모르고 있을 뿐이라는 사실을..."
"To learn that two people can look at the same thing
and see it differently."
"두 사람이 똑 같은 것을 바라보면서도
그것을 서로 다르게 볼 수도 있다는 사실을."
"To learn that it is not enough
that they forgive one another,
but they must also forgive themselves."
서로 용서하는 것만으로는 부족하니,
너희 스스로를 용서해야 한다는
사실을 알아야 하느니라...."
"Thank you for your time," I said humbly.
"is there anything else you'd like
your children to know?"
"시간을 내 주셔서 감사합니다.
그 밖에 또 들려주실 말씀은요?"
내가 겸손하게 여쭙자
God smiled and said....
신은 미소 지으셨다. 그리고 말씀하셨다.
"Just know that I am here."
"늘 명심하여라. 내가 여기 있다는 사실을..."
"Always."
"언제까지나..."
"All ways."
"모든 방식으로..."
