2018년 4월 4일 『대방광불화엄경 강설』 81권 전권(全券)을 부처님전에 봉정하는 법회가 범어사 보제루에서 열렸다. 조계종 총무원에서 이 봉정법회를 기획하고 진행하였다.
보제루와 차일을 친 앞마당에까지 청중이 가득 찼다.
꽃들이 가득가득 피었는데 비가 쏟아져 내렸다.
조금씩 내리던 비는 서울에서 내려온 조계종 총무원장스님 이하 여러 스님들이 축사를 할 때는 하늘이 무너지듯 폭우가 되어 퍼부었다.
‘우보익생만허공(雨寶益生滿虛空)’이라는 법성게 구절은 『화엄경』을 공부하는 이들에게 익숙했다.
이날 꽃비와 함께 폭우로 쏟아지는 하늘의 방광 역시 당연했다. 비를 핑계로 모두가 함께 울고 박수를 치고 흐드러진 봄꽃들처럼 또 다 같이 웃었다.
이 법회에서 무비스님은 ‘생귀(生貴)’라는 법문을 하였다. 『화엄경』을 통해 모두가 다시 귀하게 태어나자는 법문이었다.
이날 무비스님은 『대방광불화엄경 강설』 81권 전권(全券) 천 질을 법보시하였다. 조계종 종단에서 전국의 사찰과 강원과 해외의 한국 절에까지 책을 배급하는 일을 맡아 주었다
“황금을 깔아서 기원정사를 만든 급고독장자처럼 나는『화엄경』으로 세상을 덮고 싶습니다.” 라고 기회 있을 때마다 무비스님이 말하곤 했다.
On April 4, 2018, a ceremony was held at Bojeru Hall in Beomeosa Temple to offer the complete 81-volume set of 'The Lectures on the Avatamsaka Sutra' .
The Jogye Order headquarters planned and organized this ceremony.
The audience filled Bojeru Hall and the front courtyard under the canopy.
Flowers were blooming everywhere, and heavy rain poured down.
The light rain turned into a heavy downpour while the President of the Jogye Order and other monks from Seoul gave their speeches. It poured as if the sky were falling.
People who study the Avatamsaka Sutra already knew the famous line of 'The Song of Dharma Nature': 'Blessings fall like rain to help everyone and fill the sky.‘
On this day, the heavy rain and the 'rain of flowers' felt like a natural radiance from the sky.
Taking the rain as an excuse, everyone cried, clapped, and laughed together, just like the spring flowers in full bloom.
At this ceremony, Mubi Seunim gave a special Dharma talk titled 'Saeng-gwi,' or 'Being Born Noble.‘
His message was that everyone can be born again as a noble person through the Avatamsaka Sutra.
On this day, Mubi Seunim gave away 1,000 complete sets of 'The Lectures on the Avatamsaka Sutra' as a Dharma gift.
The Jogye Order took charge of sending the books everywhere. They delivered them to temples and Buddhist colleges throughout the country and to Korean temples overseas.
Mubi Seunim said whenever he had a chance, "Just as Anathapindika covered the ground with gold to build the Jetavana Monastery, I want to cover the world with the Avatamsaka Sutra."
