1 Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate.
그때에 온 회중이 일어나 그를 빌라도에게 끌고 갔다.
2 And they began to accuse him, saying, “We have found this man subverting our nation.
그리고 그들은 "우리는 이 사람이 우리 나라를 전복하려는 것을 발견했다."고 말하며 그를 고소하기 시작했다.
He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Messiah, a king.”
그는 가이사에게 세금을 내는 것을 반대하며 스스로 왕이며 메시아라고 주장한다.
3 So Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
그래서 빌라도가 예수께 "네가 유대인의 왕인가?"하고 물었다.
“You have said so,” Jesus replied."네가 그렇게 말했다."고 예수께서 대답하셨다.
4 Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”
그때 빌라도가 대제사장들과 무리들에게 "나는 이 사람을 대항하여 기소할 어떤 근거도 찾지 못했다."고 공표했다.
5 But they insisted, “He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He started in Galilee and has come all the way here.”
그러나 그들은 "그는 그의 가르침으로 유대 지방 전역에서 사람들을 뒤집어 놓는다. 그는 갈릴리에서 시작하여 여기 모든 길로 왔다."고 주장했다.
6 On hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean.
이것을 듣고서 빌라도는 그 사람이 갈릴리 사람이었냐고 뮬었다.
7 When he learned that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction, 그가 예수께서 헤롯의 관할권 아래에 있다는 것을 알았을 때에
he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.
그는 그 당시에 예루살렘에 또한 있었던 헤롯에게 그를 보냈다.
8 When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased,
헤롯이 예수를 보았을 때, 그는 크게 기뻐했다.
because for a long time he had been wanting to see him.
왜냐하면 오랫동안 그는 그를 보기를 원했기때문이다.
From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform a sign of some sort.
그에 대해 들은 바로는, 그는 그가 어떤 기적을 행하는 모습을 볼 수 있기를 바랐다.
9 He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.
그는 예수께 많은 질문을 했지만, 예수께서는 아무 대답도 하지 않으셨다.
10 The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him.
대제사장들과 율법학자들이 그곳에 서서 그를 격렬하게 고소했다.
