22 For the third time he spoke to them: “Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him.” 세번 그는 그들에게 말했다. "왜? 무슨 범죄를 이 사람이 범했는가? 나는 그에게서 사형을 처해야 할 근거를 발견하지 못했다. 그러므로 나는 그를 때린 후에 놓아 줄 것이다."
23 But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed.
그러나 큰 목소리로 외침으로 그들은 그가 십자가에 못 박혀야 할 것을 주장함으로 요구했고 그들의 외침이 압도했다.
24 So Pilate decided to grant their demand.
그래서 빌라도는 그들의 요구를 들어주기로 결심했다.
25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.
그는 반란과 살인죄로 감옥에 갇힌 사람, 곧 그들이 요구했던 사람을 풀어주고 예수를 그들의 뜻대로 넘겨주었다.
26 As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.
병사들이 그를 이끌어 갈 때, 그들은 시골에서 길을 가고 있는 구레네 시몬을 잡아서 그에게 십자가를 지게하고 예수 뒤에서 그것을 나르게 했다.
27 A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. 그를 위해 애곡하고 통곡하는 여자들을 포함하여 많은 사람들이 그를 따랐다.
28 Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.
예수께서 돌이켜 그들에게 "예루살렘의 딸들아, 나를 위해 울지 말고 너희 자신들과 너희의 자녀들을 위해 울어라."고 말씀하셨다.
29 For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ 너희가 "자녀가 없는 여자들과 잉태하지 못한 자궁과 먹이지 못했던 유방이 복이 있다."고 말할 그때가 올 것이다.
30 Then “ ‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!” and to the hills, “Cover us!” ’
그때 "그들은 산에게 우리 위에 떨어져라. 그리고 동산들에게 우리를 덮어라."고 말할 것이다.
31 For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”
만일 사람들이 나무들이 푸르게 될때 이것들을 행한다면 그것이 말라질 때 무슨 일이 일어날 것인가?
32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed.
범죄자인 다른 두 사람도 사형을 당하러 그와 함께끌려갔다.
33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left.
그들이 해골이라는 장소에 왔을 때, 그들은 범죄자들과 함께 그의 오른편에 한 사람, 왼편에 다른 사람을 거기서 십자가에 못 박았다.
