뜨거운 날이다.
It was hot, today.
숙소를 옮기는 날이라 하라상은 일단 짐을 실은 차를 몰고 갔다.
We changed the lodge. Mr. Hara carried the baggage by car.
강아지가 계속 따라오더니 이젠 쉬고 있다.
A puppy has followed me for a while. Now he rests.
지나가던 가게의 청년들에게 리플렛을 나눠주고 한참을 걸어가는데,
그들이 오토바이를 타고 필자에게 콜라를 전해주러 일부러 왔다.
I handed out the leaflet to the young men who were passing by.
Two young men came to me by motorcycle, and gave me cokes.

그들이 전해준 태국산 콜라다. 그런데 놀랍게도 한글로 '사랑해' 와 '안녕하세요' 가 찍혀 있다! 이럴 수가!
요즘 한류드라마 가운데 뭔가 있었나? 아니면 노래가사중에?
어쨌든 그저께 그 아가씨가 '사랑해' 하면서 하트마크를 그린 것도 이해가 된다.
The coke they gave to me was made in Thailand. To my surprise, '사랑해 Saranghae' (I love you in Korean) and '안녕하세요' (Hello in Korean) were written on the surface of the can. What a wonderful surprise! Is it because Korean TV drama may be popular in Thailand? Or Korean hit song? Anyway, now I understand the girl who showed heart sign by saying 'Saranghae' in Korean.
지구촌이 좁아지고 있다.
하기야 필자도 서울에서 로마까지 걸어서 가는 세상이니.
The word 'Earth village' is now understandable.
It is no surprise that I am walking from Seoul to Rome.
하라상이 합류했다.
가게주인인 이 분은 보자마자 생수 두병을 안긴다.
Mr. Hara joined the walking. The owner of a shop gave bottled water as soon as he saw us.
오늘은 중간쯤에 소낙비도 오고 구름도 끼고 해서 낮시간에 쉬지않고 걷기로 했다.
We encountered a shower in the middle of the course, and the sky was overcast.
So we decided to walk without long rest.
하지만 오판이었다.
후반부는 내내 뜨거웠다.
But our decision was wrong. It was very hot in the later part of the course.
그런 가운데 자비심 가득한 보살님들이 마실 것을 차창너머로 전해주신다.
The Buddhist women who were driving handed us beverage over the car window.
스포츠 드링크도 들어 있다.
The sports drink were included.
막바지 뜨거운 아스팔트위에서 생수를 전해주신 분. 보이는 엄지손가락은 이 분 것이다.

하지만 나중에 등장한 이 분의 나이지긋한 동료는,
필자가 서울에서 왔다고 했는데도
노스코리아 얘기를 꺼내면서 최근의 사태를 비난한다.
어쨌든 '코리아' 아니냐는 말투로.
However, a colleague of this man came to us later.
I told him I came from South Korea, but he blamed North Korea and nuclear test reported recently.
To him, North and South was same Korea.
하기야 그들에게는 그럴 수 있겠다.
요즘 이곳 TV를 켜도 김정은 트럼프 문재인 세 사람은 늘 등장한다.
코리아라는 이름에는 사연이 많다.
To the people of Thailand, North or South of Korea was not important.
President Trump of U.S. and Kim Jeong Eun of North Korea and Moon Jae In of South Korea appear very frequently on TV news in Thailand. The word 'Korea' has many faces.
스트레이트로 걸은 뜨거운 22km.
아열대 지방인 이곳에서는 쉽지 않은 거리였다.
Today I walked 22 km without long rest in hot weather.
It was a difficult challenge in sub-tropical region such as Thailand.
부지런히 걸은 덕분에 숙소에 1시쯤 일찍 도착했다.
쉬고 있으니 소낙비가 내린다.
Since I walked without long rest, I arrived at today's destination around 1:00 p.m.
I was resting after finishing today's course, when the rain started.
