1.부산에 계신 100인 위원중 한 분인 손정옥님이 직접 찍어 보내주신 새해아침 일출이다. 멋진 사진이다.
One of the 100 supporting members of New Silk Road, Jeong Ok Son who lives in Pusan, sent me a nice picture of sunrise of 2019 New Year. It was a wonderful picture.
"~씨앗은 심어질 때 완전하고 초딩은 입학할 때 완전하다. 졸업할 때는 불완전하다. 자본은 투자될 때 완전하고 생명은 잉태될 때 완전하다." 필자가 좋아하는 김동렬선생의 최근 글 한 대목이다.
"A seed is perfect when it is planted. A primary school boy is perfect when he enters school. The capital is perfect when it is invested. A life is perfect when it is conceived."
I love this clause which is found in recent writing of Mr. Dong Yeol Kim whom I like very much.
2.어제는 짐을 옮기면서 나흘만에 하루 쉬었다. 숙소만 적절한 간격으로 입지하고 있으면, 짐을 갖고 다니는 건 어렵지 않다. 문제는 숙소의 위치다. 그에 따라 순례일정도 약간씩 조정된다.
사진은 닷새동안 묵게 될 Shajahapur의 Durgar Tourist Hotel 프론트.
1박에 1500루피(2만4천원) 정도로서 가성비가 좋은 호텔이다. 이만한 곳은 드문 편이다.
Yesterday, I took a rest day and transported baggage after four days' walking.
If I can find out a proper shelter located in reasonable interval, it is not difficult to carry baggage.
Location of shelters is sometimes troublesome.
Depending on the location of shelter, I have to change my pilgrimage schedule.
This picture shows the front desk of Durgar Tourist Hotel in Shajahapur where I would stay for 5 days.
The cost was 1500 rupee (24,000 won) for one day, which was reasonable price.
It is not easy to find such a good hotel.
3. 출발지로 이동하는 기차안에서 만난 아기.
I saw a baby while I go to the starting point by train.

I took a picture of another baby.

6. 웃는 일행의 모습을 담았다.
인도에서는 여인들의 사진을 찍기가 쉽지 않지만 아이와 함께 있을 때는 마음을 열어준다.
I took a picture of smiling Indian ladies.
Indian ladies are shy and they do not allow photo usually.
They allow picture when they are with babies.
7. 출발지에 도착해서 식당에 갔다.
When I arrived at starting point, I went to the restaurant.
8. 왼쪽이 일상적으로 먹는 사모사라는 것인데 감자와 콩과 향신료를 밀가루반죽으로 싸서 기름에 튀긴 것이다.
오른 쪽의 것은 처음 보는 것인데 달콤한 후식으로 맛이 그만이었다.
The dish in the left-hand side is called samosa which is staple food in India.
They wrap potato, bean, and spice with flour paste and fry it with cooking oil.
The dish in the right-hand side is something which I see for first time.
It was sweet. It was a very good dessert.

10. 출발지에서 만난 이들.
I met these people at the starting point.
11. 몇걸음 안 가서 도로변에 있는 작은 학교를 만났다. 선생님들이다.
As soon as I started, I found a small school at roadside.
I took a picture with teachers of the school.
12. 학생들에게 설명후 기념촬영.
I explained about New Silk Road, and took a picture with the students.

I took a picture with female teachers.

With the youths of a village.
16. 사탕수수껍질을 버려둔지 오래되는 밭에 새들이 기웃거리고 있다.
아마도, 단맛을 찾아 몰려드는 각종 벌레를 노리고 호시탐탐 하는듯.
Birds are looking for something to eat in old leftovers of sugar cane.
Probably, they are aiming at various kinds of worms which gather for the sweet.

More birds are waiting at nearby tree.

I found the second school on the way.

The principal gave me his address instead of name card.

At the moment of departure.
22. 이 밀밭은 일찍 파종한듯. 자라는 색깔이 다르다.
This wheat field is geen at this time of year.
They must have planted the seed early.

24. 광고를 벽돌벽에 직접 페인트를 칠해서 그렸다. 눈길이 가는 광고다.
This advertisement was painted on bricks. It is eye-catching.
25. 인도도 고압선이 적지 않다.
The high-voltage cables are not few in India.
26. 큰 길가의 흰두신들을 모신 장소. 주로 운전기사들이 접하기 좋은 장소에 자리잡았다.
A sanctuary with Hindu god and goddess.
The sanctuary is usually located at the place where the drivers can approach easily.

I could see a box for donations.
28. 걷다가 그럴싸한 빈 의자가 있길래 앉아서 잠시 졸았는데, 눈을 뜨니 주민과 학생들이 필자를 지켜보고 있다.

I found a chair on the way. I sat on the chair and dozed for a while.
I awoke to find villagers and students looking at me.
I shook hands with them, and took a picture with them.
29. 학생들은 따로 한 컷.
I took a picture only with students.
30. 세번째 학교를 만났다.
이번에는 중학생들이다. 내용을 잘 알아들으니 설명을 좀더 많이 하게 된다.
I found the third school on the way.
This time, I met middle school boys.
I explained about New Silk Road in more detail because they understood what I was talking about.

This map was very useful in explaining about New Silk Road.

At the moment of departure.
오늘은 아마도 순례길에서 가장 뿌듯한 하루중 하나일 것이다.
Today was one of the most heartwarming days in my pilgrimage.
