1. 인도는 북부지역이 땅이 넓고 평탄한데다 물이 안정적으로 흘러서 농업생산력이 크다.
In the northern region of India, the area is wide and flat.
This region has stable water supply originating from Himalaya mountains.
This area has a very high agricultural productivity.
2. 히말라야 산맥으로부터 많은 물줄기가 내려온다. 갠지즈강도 그 일부.
부처님이 탄생하고 활약하신 무대도 바로 이 지역이다.
Several rivers flow down from Himalaya mountains. Ganges river is one of them.
This region is the very place where Buddha was born. Buddha had active religious activities here.
3. 며칠전에 보았던 관개수로도 북부지역에 집중적으로 개발된 편이다.
인도는 농업생산력이 매우 큼에도 불구하고 몇년전까지만 해도 식량분배문제가 심각했었다.
하지만 2013년부터 식량안보법(National Food Security Bill)이 발효되면서 어느 정도 형편이 나아졌다고 한다.
The irrigation waterways I saw several days ago were developed intensively in this region.
Even though India has high agricultural productivity, the distribution system of grain had a problem.
Since National Food Security Bill was passed in 2013, however, the situation was getting better.
4. 출발점의 버스정류장에서.
배낭에 꽂혀 있는 깃대는 삼척에서 난 대나무로서 성원기교수가 손질하여 전해주었다.
손에 들고 다니는 깃대 겸 지팡이는, 부처님이 제자를 길러내신 영축산이 있는 라즈기르(Rajgir)에서 어린 소녀로부터 산 것이다.
그 소녀는 단 한자루만을 팔고 있었는데, 필자에게 강력히 권유하는 바람에 엉겹결에 샀던 기억이 있다.
무슨 나무를 깍아서 다듬었는지 아주 가볍고 단단하고 손에 쥐기도 좋다.
At the starting point of today's pilgrimage.
The flag stuck on the backpack is made of bamboo, which professor Won Ki Seong trimmed and gave me.
I use the long stick as flag & cane. I bought the stick from a young girl at Rajgir.
Griddhakuta where Buddha taught his disciples is close to Rajgir.
She had only one stick. She begged me to buy the wooden stick, and I bought it in a hurry.
I don't know the name of the tree, but it is light, hard, easy to clench.

As I approach a big city, I meet the policeman more often.

경찰서장이 투 스타(2 Star)의 계급이라고 한다.
짜이를 그럴싸한 찻잔으로 대접을 받았다.
This time, I was invited to a police station.
The rank of police chief was two star.
I was served chai in elegant tea-cup.

This is housing-complex for the upper class.
The entrance of the complex was different from the other class.
18. 작은 이슬람 사원도 자연스럽게 자리잡고 있다.
There was a small temple of Islam.
19. 검은색과 주황색 터번을 쓴 힌두교 청년들이 필자를 기다렸다가 상세히 묻는다.

HIndu youths who wore turbans of black and orange color have waited for me.
They asked detailed question about New Silk Road.
They waved hands when I took a picture of them.
